Responsible Steward

Earning the right to operate is a responsibility Eastman takes very seriously. We understand that even the smallest action can have a lasting effect. Therefore, managing resources and preserving the ecosystem are top priorities.

Sustained excellence

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to recognize Eastman with an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award for the richness of its energy management program and continued leadership in superior energy management. Through our partnership with the ENERGY STAR program, we're bringing impactful improvements to energy performance, resulting in energy intensity reductions, cost savings and lowered emissions.

Understanding what we make

Understanding how products impact the environment at each stage of their life cycles is important to Eastman. That’s why we depend on a dedicated, life-cycle assessment (LCA) team to continually analyze information compiled at each step – from the natural resources used in conception and manufacturing, to downstream conversion, actual use and disposal. Comparisons of the product impacts and operational processes help determine the most cost-effective and sustainable solutions to apply across our company.

Water quality is serious business

With its two largest manufacturing sites located on major rivers, maintaining water quality is serious business for Eastman. To assure our own effectiveness in this area, Eastman partners with the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University to monitor water quality and viability of aquatic life in waterways near our major production facilities. In particular, studies show healthy, thriving conditions in rivers adjacent to Eastman plants located in Longview, Texas and Kingsport, Tennessee.
